Today I officially started my backyard permaculture re-design project. The aim is to produce, in the next three years, a micro-environment that is productive, expressive, sustainable and regenerative in a suburban Brisbane setting. The house was built in the early 1950s and has undergone various revovations and garden “improvements” since that time, some of which you can see in the above panorama. The plan involves different zones that separate out specific functional areas, including a wildlife habitat, a vegetable garden, a small orchard, a micro farm (concentrating on egg, compost, honey, and seedling production) and two recreational spaces. As the above image shows, there is plenty to be done!
