The Burren is a wild and beautiful area in County Clare, Ireland, next to Galway Bay. It possesses sweeping scenery, colourful wildflowers and an ancient landscape that is just meant for cycling. This 100km route was undertaken in early July 2012, anti-clockwise from Doolin in the south-west. Once off the main roads, there was almost no traffic and the gentle undulating hills made for an easy (if long) ride.

Highlights of the day included a traditional Irish sing- and dance-along at Cassidy’s Pub at Carron followed by a visit to the nearby Burren Perfumery. Afterwards, the ride down from the plateau to Ballyvaughan was fast and stunning.
