While cycling around Wishart I came across this magnificent old-growth gum (possibly a Narrow-leaved Red Gum, Eucalyptus seeana.

A vase holds branchlet of dull green gum leaves, smooth buds and flowers. some of the buds are just opening to reveal white stamens having lost their cap while others remain closed. The long, pointed leaves have a prominent mid-vein that are arranged opposite each other on the stem.

Pink Bloodwood

It was the raucous Rainbow Lorikeets that alerted me. Their feeding frenzy around a flowering tree canopy 30m above had littered the forest floor with fallen buds, flowers and leaves.
